9-1-1 Education for Children Project |
 |
Kentucky’s 9-1-1 Education for Children Project is a statewide effort aimed at educating second grade students about 9-1-1 services.
The 9-1-1 Education for Children Project has three goals: to educate students about the 911 services available to them in their area, to help students distinguish between the appropriate and inappropriate times to call 9-1-1, and to reinforce 9-1-1 to students until dialing 911 becomes an automatic response for emergencies.
The project provides free, on-sight 9-1-1 education programs to any elementary second grade class in Kentucky, upon request. Each 9-1-1 class lasts approximately 30 minutes.
The state Office of the 911 Coordinator, an agency of the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security, spearheaded the development of the program.
The 911 Education for Children Project has been endorsed by the Kentucky Department of Education and the Kentucky Center for School Safety. To request a presentation at your school, please contact the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security at (502) 564-2081.
